We reviewed the luggage & suitcases category on Amazon to give you insight into the year-to-date trends, plus a peek at top brands and products (in case a new suitcase made it on your holiday wish list). Total year-to-date sales reached $236M for the category. That’s a 36% increase from the same time last year, despite year-over-year declines during Prime Week.
Samsonite is the top brand by year-to-date retail sales, although their market share declined 58% year-over-year. Smaller brands, including AmazonBasics, Travelpro and COOLIFE, are taking share from Samsonite as their retail sales grow year-over-year.
COOLIFE dominates the top retail sales spot with their 3 Piece Set generating over $7M year-to-date – nearly 2X that of the next top seller. However, Travelpro Platinum Elite Luggage and COOLIFE Expandable Luggage have seen significant growth year over year, with retail sales increasing 1,000%.
Paid search spend in the luggage & suitcases category totals $6.67M year-to-date, a 54% increase year-over-year. We anticipate spend will follow similar trends to last year and surge over the next few weeks to support Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
